Life Coaching in Texas for Autism or ADHD
Are you a Texan who’s autistic, or has ADHD? Now that you’ve been diagnosed, do you wonder what comes next? Just because you’re neurodivergent, that doesn’t mean you need therapy. If you’re depressed or seriously anxious, you should get yourself a counselor. But maybe you don’t need that. Maybe you just want someone to talk to, someone halfway between a best friend and a counselor. You could use someone who will listen and really understand you. If you ever feel at loose ends, like you can’t seem to organize your life or make decisions, maybe a Life Coach is for you.
What is Life Coaching?
Life Coaching is a way for people to get better at the things they struggle with, like time management. A Life Coach can help you set goals and reach them, and be more productive. You can feel better about yourself and your ability to deal with life’s challenges with a partner by your side. Many people in Texas benefit from having an advisor or problem-solving partner to talk things over with and bounce ideas off of. Life coaching is not therapy or counseling, though. If you are living with significant anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts, then psychotherapy or counseling is what you need. If not, you might consider Life Coaching. It could be just what you need.
What is Neurodiversity Affirming Life Coaching?
Neurodiversity Affirming Life Coaching includes the deeply held belief that there is nothing at all wrong with having a different kind of brain. There’s nothing wrong with being autistic or having ADHD. Different learning styles or ways of looking at the world should be respected, not changed. At Adult Autism Assessment & Services, we have Life Coaches who are ready to work with neurodivergent Texans. All of our Life Coaches are neurodiversity-affirming. They don’t see autism or ADHD as a disease, disorder, or problem to be solved. Your Coach will never try to change you or tell you to be more like the neuro-majority. They’re here to listen to what you want to achieve in your Life Coaching experience, not to tell you what they think you need. You are in the driver’s seat with your Life Coaching sessions.
Why do people in Texas choose Life Coaching?
People all across the state of Texas, from Abilene to Zapata, are looking for a Life Coach. They might want someone to help them with particular challenges they’re facing. They might want an accountability partner to help them stay on track toward their goals. What about you? Would Life Coaching help you? If so, we can help.
What are the Benefits of Life Coaching in Texas?
Life Coaching brings many benefits for people in the Lone Star State and across the United States. It’s a good option for someone who doesn’t need psychotherapy, but who wants some support. They want to work with someone who understands them, someone who wants to see them succeed in life.
Here are a few examples of the benefits of Life Coaching:
- Life Coaching is productive. Move forward at your own speed. You choose what goals you set, how high you set them, and how quickly you pursue them.
- Life Coaching is practical. Meet with your Life Coach on your own terms, from your own home, online. You decide how many sessions you want, and how often you want to schedule them.
- Life Coaching is priced right. Save money with Life Coaching, compared to other kinds of therapy. Here at Adult Autism Assessment & Services, Life Coaching is one of our most affordable services.
- Life Coaching is personalized. Work on the things that are most important to you. Your Life Coach won’t tell you what to work on. You are in the driver’s seat for your coaching program; make it just right for you.
What Kinds of Life Coaching Programs are Available in Texas?
There are several options to choose from, or you may create your own Life Coaching experience.
Self-Diagnosis Without Imposter Syndrome Program
Maybe you’re already pretty sure you’re autistic, or that you have ADHD. You’ve read all about it, you’ve watched the YouTubers and the TikTokers talk about their neurodiversity. Listening to them, you could see reflections of your own life.
So, if you know that you’re an autist, or an ADHDer, why would you need a formal diagnosis?
Well, there are a couple of reasons: work, and school. If you need to request work accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) then your HR department at work will want proof of disability. If you go back to school, the Disabled Students Services department at your college or university may require a formal, written diagnosis.
However, if you don’t need a piece of paper for work or school, consider diagnosing yourself, and save the money you would have spent on a diagnostic assessment. Many people self-diagnose, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Who else knows you better than you know yourself? You know your history, your behaviors, and your responses, and you know how to research online, so self-diagnosis makes sense.
Even so, do you doubt yourself and your own self-diagnosis?
Imposter syndrome is real.
Many people struggle with self-doubt. If you’d like to consult with a Life Coach who understands self-diagnosis, someone who can help you dispel your doubt and imposter syndrome, then this Life Coaching program may be for you. Your Life Coach can’t diagnose you, though. If you need a formal diagnosis you should ask for a free consultation with one of our assessors.
On the other hand, maybe you don’t need a clinical diagnosis, but you do want to feel more confident in your self-diagnosis. If you want to reflect and talk to someone knowledgeable, then maybe Self-Diagnosis Without Imposter Syndrome is for you. You can choose either a brief, single-session, or you can dive deeper with multiple sessions, until you feel affirmed in your own self-diagnosis.
Time Management Coaching
For a lot of autists and ADHDers, time management is particularly challenging. They’d love to get a handle on their time, but it keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping away. They apologize for being late and for missing appointments, but it keeps happening. You’re smart, you’re capable, and you’re successful in many areas of your life. So, why do you still struggle with time management? You might benefit from Time Management Coaching. You might find it helpful to work with a Life Coach on one of the various aspects of Time Management: Time Comprehension, Time Planning, or Time Transitions.
If time seems like a mystery, and you have no clue whether a job will take 15 minutes or a couple of hours, maybe Time Comprehension Life Coaching can help you.
If your issue is with structuring your time and organizing your days, weeks, and months so you can take care of business, then you might need Time Planning Life Coaching.
Maybe it’s like pulling teeth for you to switch gears and change from one activity to another. If that sounds like you, then you might benefit from Time Transition Life Coaching, with tips and strategies for making transitions easier.
If any one or more of those time challenges are true for you, consider Time Management Life Coaching, personalized to fit your needs.
Dating Life Coaching
A lot of neurodivergent Texans are looking for a Dating Life Coach. They want someone to talk to about their dating experiences, hopes, and dreams. It can help to have a neutral third party to provide a different perspective, to give you confidence, and to help you take the steps you want to take towards your future.
Choose Your Own Adventure Life Coaching
A lot of people might be interested in coaching, but they want to be in charge. Texans are independent. You don’t want to be bossed around. You decide if you want tips and strategies for personal life organization, or decision-making, or self-advocacy, or for coping with sensory or social stressors. With Choose Your Own Life Coaching Adventure, you’re in charge of what you work on. Your Life Coach is there for you. If you’re not sure exactly what you want to work on, a free consultation can help you find your direction. Choose Your Own Life Coaching Adventure, and set your own goals, with your coach at your side to help you achieve them.
Is Life Coaching Effective?
Whether you live in a big city like Plano, or someplace off the beaten track like Pecan Gap, online Life Coaching can help you. It’s helped others like you. Autistics have grown to accept, appreciate, and even celebrate their unique brains, while learning to let down their masks and live their lives as they choose. ADHDers have taken control of their time and goals rather than being pulled away by every squirrel or shiny thing. Highly sensitive people have developed coping strategies to let them go out into the world without becoming overwhelmed by it. It’s helped them, and it can help you.
