Is Autism Assessment Right for You?

Have you ever wondered if you might be autistic?

If you have, you are not alone.

Full disclosure – I’m not Autistic. I’m Wendela Whitcomb Marsh, but you can call me Wendy, or Dr. Wendy if you prefer. I’m retired now, but I founded Adult Autism Assessment and Services for people just like you.

Maybe you’ve always felt different from everyone else.

Did you struggle to make and keep friends?

Has it been hard for you to communicate your feelings?

Do you find certain sensory experiences to be almost intolerable, such as the sound of someone chewing or the feeling of seams on your socks and tags in your shirts?

You may be Autistic even though you were never diagnosed in childhood.

If you’re smart, observant, and able to imitate others and mask your Autistic traits, then it’s not surprising that no one ever suspected Autism.

Do you worry that it’s too late now that you’re an adult?

    It’s not too late.

It’s never too late, and you’re never too old to get an Autism assessment.

The team at Adult Autism Assessment has worked with people who are older than me.

Whenever you find yourself wondering about Autism, and searching for information,

that’s the perfect time for you to take that step.

But you might ask, why do adults get tested for Autism? What can be gained at your age?

If you’re hoping to get government assistance as a disabled person, you will probably need to be evaluated by a neuropsychologist who includes IQ and adaptive testing in addition to Autism assessment. In that case, this is not the right place for you. Ask your government agency for a recommendation for a professional whose assessment they will accept.

But not everyone needs disability support from the government.

Maybe you need accommodations at work or in school. Your company’s HR department, or disabled student services at your university, will want to see an Autism assessment report before granting you accommodations.

If you don’t need accommodations, you might not need an assessment.

Many people self-identify. After all, who knows you better than you know yourself?

But if you are looking for answers and understanding, you might want your self-identification confirmed and formalized.

If so, you’ve come to the right place.

The team at Adult Autism Assessment works with all people and genders age 18 and older, and specializes in identifying autism in cis-women, nonbinary and trans folk, really, anyone who has learned to mask their Autistic traits well.

Here you’ll find assessors who are licensed in almost every state and territory nationwide. Your clinician will work with you to document and analyze your history of behaviors and responses through guided conversations and both formal and informal Autism tests and questionnaires. Many team members are Autistic themselves, and all are neurodiversity-affirming. They know there’s nothing wrong with you, and want to find answers that will help you, and the people in your life, know and understand you.

If you’ve been wondering whether you might be Autistic and you’re looking for answers, look no further.
